Xmas

Yes, I am posting on this day. I hate this time of year, but thats another story. I wanted to post a few things I had found, and just to share.

From Slashdot, quoting gunnk:
All geeks are just failed wizards : (

I'm beg to differ, sir! Geeks are the wizards of our world. Our arts are arcane. We write in code that actually makes things happen when read by computers. When two geeks talk to one another within earshot of non-geeks, the lay folk stare at each other and ask "Are they speaking English?" We tinker. We blow things up. We build the things whose operation to lay folk is a mystery.

Our world DOES possess magic. Science permits us to pull back the veil and see how it works, and technology is nothing more than applied magic.

So true.

Now, for some nifties.

One of the Mars rovers is getting cleaned. Even more.

My Guild in Everquest 2. My characters are Ryuca (my ranger) and Ecuuni (my Paladin).

Merry Xmas everyone.

Finals and Whatnot

So its been awhile. How many times have I said that, here? Too many.

Classes are, as of last Wens, offically over for the semester. I now have a paper to finish revising, a paper to write, and a final to study for. The two former are due on the 16th by 5pm, while the latter is on the 17th at Noon. So, I am working busily on each.

I had a nice lunch today with the folks from my bioethics class. They are, on the whole, a good bunch of people. I enjoyed the conversation, quite alot. My sense of Isolation is reduced now to the level of intrinsic outsider inserting herself into the premade groups and friendships, rather than isolated newbie who knows no one.

Currently, I am working on revising my paper for my Nietzsche seminar. I am realizing just how poorly I take revision of my work. True, some of the most obvious things seem lost on this reviewer, but I must make due. Heavy handed? I've never quite been told my writing style was that until now. What to make of it?

Everquest 2 has eaten what remains of my life. Until now, at least. My Crusader is 17, my Ranger 18, but I have abandoned the ranger in favor of the Crusader. A Kerra, oddly enough. How does a shamanic people come to have a holy knight? Same as a High Elf comes to be a Mystic. From opposite ends of religion, and neither the twain shall meet. Hah!

Anyway, that is all.
